Overview

The V12 Vantage oil service is not conceptually difficult, but access, heat, and the cost of getting it wrong make method and cleanliness essential. Treat all quantities and torque values as workshop-manual items rather than assumptions.

Tools and consumables

Tools

• Lift or high-quality axle stands: The car must be secure and level.
• Socket, Torx, and trim-fastener tools: Undertray access is more involved than on simpler cars.
• Large-capacity drain pan: Plan for the full oil volume.
• Torque wrench: Required for the drain plug and fasteners once exact values are verified.

Consumables

• Approved engine oil: Use only the exact V12-approved oil grade and quantity for the car.
• Correct oil filter: Confirm the correct part by VIN.
• Drain plug sealing washer: Renew if required by the plug design.

Preparation

• Warm the engine lightly, then allow enough cooldown to work safely around the underbody and oil system.
• Confirm that the correct filter, oil, and sealing parts are on hand before lifting the car.
• Lift the car safely and level.

Access

• Remove the undertray sections required for drain and filter access.
• Keep fixings ordered because refitting errors create rattles and future service problems.
• Check for old seepage or damage while the underbody is open.

Remove

• Drain the oil fully into an adequately sized pan.
• Inspect the drain plug and old oil for warning signs.
• Remove the filter carefully and clean the mating surface.

Install

• Install the new filter correctly and renew the drain plug washer if applicable.
• Refit the drain plug to the exact manual torque.
• Refill using the exact approved oil and the correct level-check procedure.

Final checks

• Run the engine, inspect for leaks, then re-check the level after the oil has settled as specified.
• Refit the undertray carefully and confirm no tools or cloths remain in the work area.
• Reset service reminders only once the service is confirmed complete.
