Aston Martin Brake Fluid Change

Overview

Brake fluid age matters on every Aston Martin, and especially on the heavier or faster models. A fluid change is simple in principle, but it should only be attempted if you can guarantee a clean process and a firm pedal afterwards.

Tools and consumables

Tools

• Pressure bleeder or vacuum bleeding equipment: Use a clean, known-good setup.
• Correct bleed tools: Use the right wrench size for the bleed nipples.
• Protective cloths: Brake fluid damages paint and trim.

Consumables

• Approved brake fluid: Use only the exact specification approved for the model and use case.

Preparation

• Confirm the correct fluid specification and bleeding sequence for the exact car.
• Protect paintwork and surrounding trims before opening the reservoir.
• Prepare clean bleeding equipment and enough fresh fluid to flush the system properly.

Access

• Access the reservoir and bleed points cleanly.
• Remove dirt from bleed nipples before opening them.
• Keep the reservoir level under close control throughout the process.

Remove

• Extract old fluid using the correct bleeding sequence.
• Watch the colour change and ensure no air is drawn into the system.
• Do not rush the final corners of the bleed process.

Install

• Introduce fresh approved fluid until the system is fully renewed.
• Close bleed points correctly and clean any residue immediately.
• Set the reservoir level correctly once the job is complete.

Final checks

• Confirm a firm pedal before moving the car.
• Road-test gently and recheck for leaks or pedal change.
• If the pedal is inconsistent, stop and diagnose before normal driving.
